Luciano Caratori, from Fundación Torcuato Di Tella, commented that there is no universally accepted definition of "energy transition", and pointed out the common elements. He explained the main challenges for transitions, giving examples from various countries. Finally, he shared some of the results obtained from the work carried out in the framework of the Decarboost project. In this regard, he commented on the analysis carried out on different mitigation measures encompassed under the "energy efficiency" package, from the point of view of their high mitigation capacity, high transformational potential and high/medium high implementation feasibility (technical/political/financial/economic), which places efficiency as a key element in the transition.
This session of the Community of Practice aimed to analyse the impact of the results of the COP26 negotiations and their implications for investments in Latin America with a panel of experts.
Continuing with the objective of developing dialogues with key stakeholders, in 2021 we held meetings with players from the Energy, Transport and AFOLU sectors. During these meetings, the initial results achieved during this year of work were shared in order to ensure the relevance and legitimacy of the progress made.
In the framework of our study “Enabling conditions to make finance flows consistent with needs related to low-carbon and resilient development pathways to be adopted by Argentina" (Decarboost Project) in 2020, we held dialogues with actors from different sectors, with the valuable presence of numerous participants. These dialogues were key to enriching our work process and learning in detail about the perspectives of different sectors working towards the common goal of achieving greenhouse gas emission reductions. As a result of these exchanges, the following presentation was prepared with the main findings.
