Financing Carbon Neutrality in Cities – C40 Summit

The event “Financing Carbon Neutrality in Cities: Investment Opportunities and Mitigation Options” was held during the C40 Summit. 

Representatives of Argentina, Brazil and Perú, presented the results of the Decarboost Project’s identification of the enabling conditions and financing strategies for climate mitigation at the urban level in the framework of the carbon neutrality commitments made by the cities that are part of C40.

Case studies to analyse investment opportunities and concrete mitigation options at the city level in the energy, transportation, labor and waste sectors were shared.

  • Mitigation options in the transport and waste sectors. The case of biomethane (Brazil)
  • Decentralized coworking as an option and response in times of pandemic and its contribution in the fight against climate change (Peru) 
  • Charging infrastructure to accelerate electromobility (Argentina)
  • Energy efficiency and Energy Services Company (ESCO) (Argentina)

The event was developed in hybrid format, from the Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires and through Zoom, and broadcast live through Decarboost’s LinkedIn page and the Legislature’s YouTube. More than 370 attendees participated.
